SEK Catalunya International School is seeking to appoint a University Counselor & IB DP Psychology Teacher.

Mission:

The mission of the University Counselor is to guide students in discovering their academic pathways, personal strengths, and future aspirations while fostering autonomy, resilience, and informed decision-making. Through individualized counseling, he/she supports students in navigating the university application process, understanding global higher education systems, and aligning their skills and interests with meaningful post-secondary opportunities.

Within the Psychopedagogical and Counseling Department, the counselor promotes student well-being, self-awareness, and socio-emotional growth by using evidence-based guidance practices. He/she helps students develop essential life competencies ensuring they are equipped to face academic and personal challenges.

In Psychology, he/she helps students explore human behavior and mental processes, encouraging empathy, self-awareness, and scientific inquiry. He/she fosters intellectual curiosity, intercultural understanding, and a well-rounded perspective, empowering students to apply knowledge practically and ethically in both local and global contexts.

Functions:

• Attend department meetings and contribute to planning and coordination of guidance and counseling initiatives.

• Develop and implement the school’s university and career guidance program, including individual advising sessions, group workshops, and information events.

• Provide individualized support to students, offering feedback on their academic plans, university choices, and application materials.

• Guide and mentor students through all stages of the university application process, including goal setting, research, documentation, and submission.

• Stay informed about national and international university requirements, admissions trends, scholarships, and relevant updates.

• Communicate regularly with parents to share student progress and address questions regarding academic pathways and post secondary options.

Requirements:

• Degree in Psychology, Psychopedagogy or similar.

• Master of Education or PGCE.

• Teaching experience, preferably in one of the IB programmes (MYP and/or Diploma) in the area of Psychology.

• English native speaker or native speaker level.

• Spanish and/or Catalan native speaker or native speaker level.

• Microsoft Office user, University Application Platforms (UCAS, Common App, European University portals, etc.).

• Experience with learning management systems and other educational technologies.

• Monday to Thursday from 9:30 to 17:20.

• Friday from 9:00 to 17:00.
